Traffic Wallpaper Privacy Policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
Traffic Wallpaper doesn't collect any information about you. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising, and the developer doesn't run any server that it talks to. To draw your map, it asks a few map and weather services for the area it shows. Those requests are described below.
What stays on your Mac
- Your location. If you let the app center the map on where you are, macOS gives it your location. It's used to choose the area to show, and isn't saved or sent to the developer. You can choose a fixed place instead, or turn off location access in System Settings at any time.
- Your Mapbox access token. Stored in your Mac's Keychain and sent only to Mapbox.
- Your settings, looks and wallpapers. Stored in the app's own folder on your Mac. Wallpaper images are replaced as the traffic updates, and none is kept longer than 30 days.
Services the app contacts
The app connects directly to these services. Each request includes the area the map shows, which is near you when the map follows your location. Nothing is sent through the developer.
- Mapbox, for the map and live traffic, using your own Mapbox access token. Mapbox receives requests for the map area and counts map loads against your Mapbox account. See Mapbox's privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo, for the current weather at the map's center. See Open-Meteo's terms and privacy.
- NASA's Global Imagery Browse Services, for satellite cloud imagery of the map's area.
- Apple, to look up places you search for and to name the neighborhood shown on the map (macOS geocoding). See Apple's privacy policy.
Beta testing
If you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send with the developer, who uses them only to improve the app. See Apple's TestFlight terms for what Apple collects.
Children
The app doesn't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
